Building on the success of the UNT Logistics Program, and the rapidly expanding logistics and supply chain industrial base of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Area, in 2013 UNT established the Jim McNatt Institute for Logistics Research (McNatt Institute). The McNatt Institute seeks to advance our understanding of how business, government, technology, the environment and the human element interact within complex logistics systems and enterprises to support sustainable and resilient economic growth. The establishment of the McNatt Institute fosters synergy across UNT in strengths such as emergency management, economics, geography, engineering, transportation and planning, digital commerce, arts, and logistics. This intellectual convergence stimulates collaboration between government agencies, businesses, non-profits, and service providers to examine the integration of people, goods, and related information across the entire supply chain.
Position Overview
Position provides administrative support to the Director of the Jim McNatt Institute for Logistics Research. Primary duties include the financial accounting for Institute and grant accounts, updates/hiring for personnel management, and preparation of periodic reports. Purchases equipment and supplies in support of the Institute.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Advanced written communication skills. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures. Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others. Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively. Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness. Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function. Supervisory skills.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Experience with UNTs various information systems such as EIS, Cayuse, and IT Shared Services (my.unt). Knowledge of UNT procedures such as ePar, ePro, pCard, travel, and IDT/ABA.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Assists director, faculty, and research professors/associates in preparation and formatting of grant reports and technical memoranda
- Administrative support to the director and Institute to include calendar management, developing meeting agendas, preparing updates on budgets and Institute
- Project management support for the Director maintains projects in MS Project to reflect work/resource allocations, key milestones, and ongoing progress
- Budget management in support of the Institute to include travel, payroll, requisition processing, purchasing card management, tracking of expenditures against grant accounts, and management of the Institute accounts
- Support for grant proposals to include developing budgets, determining salaries to be allocated against the project, amount of effort by researcher, preparation (formatting and completion of forms) of the proposal, and submission. Milestones for grant proposals identified and tracked to ensure timely submission.
- Provides support for visiting faculty, speakers at Institute events to include travel arrangements, and assistance to the director and associate directors in planning and executing multiday conferences sponsored by the Institute

Monday to Friday, 8-5, additional hours as needed for special events
