Libraries Technology and Computer Operations (Lib TACO) provides IT solutions and support for the UNT Libraries. This includes staff workstations and software, student computer lab workstations, printing, esports & gaming, design and maintenance of lab facilities, makerspace initiatives, electronic resources, and things yet to come.

Position Overview

This position would primarily focus on the routine maintenance needs for all Library buildings and branch locations, inspecting and evaluating issues, insuring cleanliness, and break fix issues are being addressed efficiently, as well as working on assigned projects for improved environments, security, and safety measures. Event support for facilities, including the setups for various event locations through the library facilities. Additionally responsible for moving physical items such as furniture within the library and surplus, minor furniture repairs, and custodial needs for services provided by the library.

Responsible for the coordination of routine inspections and oversight of the 6 library locations building break/fix maintenance, management of tool inventory and upkeep and ensuring the proper tools are available before a job is started

Responsible for the management of the continual custodial upkeep for public locations including the supervising of the part time student team, ordering supplies and regular cleaning procedures are scheduled

Responsible for the moving, loading, transporting, and/or securing of furniture or materials within the library and/or to surplus, and/ or assembly/disassembly of them, including event room set up and take downs

Responsible for oversite of the access control programs, the facilities ticketing systems, teams channels, and mail box

Secondary support for the mail room/courier team and on call duties for building emergencies

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED equivalent and one year related experience in building operations and/or event facility management. Substitution of education for experience allowed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Knowledge of and skill in use of standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of general maintenance task; knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of general maintenance; knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and working drawings.
* Ability to use basic shop math applications.
* Ability to locate and identify problems in appropriate building system or equipment and to plan and execute necessary repairs.
* Physical ability to perform moderately heavy physical work which includes lifting and crawling, and to remain outdoors in inclement weather.
* Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

• Bachelor’s degree
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Ability to manage and supervise a team effectively.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Familiarity with best practices for tool use, safety measures, and training to meet work u se standards
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle issues promptly
• Hands on experience with MS Office
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Familiarity with inventory management practices
• Ability to lift/move boxes/furniture repeatedly
• Ability to take the initiative, work independently, and troubleshoot in a fast paced, work environment
• Knowledge of custodial best practices for public/office spaces
• Experience with ticketing systems such as service now
• Strong customer service skills
