Department Summary
The Department of Dance and Theatre is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, with approximately 400 theatre majors and minors in theatre and dance. The Department offers a BA degree in Theatre with concentrations in Performance, Design/Technology, General Studies and Theatre Teacher Certification, and a Minor in Dance. The vibrant undergraduate program delivers a rigorous dance and theatre education within a liberal arts context. The Department produces a full season 5-6 productions as well as several laboratory events directed by faculty, guest artists, or students.
Position Overview
The University of North Texas Dance and Theatre Department is searching for a qualified stage manager for the department's production of Merrily We Roll Along. The stage manager will be asked to perform a variety of tasks, including organizing rehearsals and communications with production team, collaborating with student, faculty, and guest designers to ensure they are working with the vision of the production, rehearsing the actors, creating a performance-ready production by opening night, calling the show throughout the technical rehearsals and performances, and attending all production meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of stage management experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must demonstrate experience in stage management within theatrical context. Must also demonstrate technical theatre knowledge, time management and organizational skills, and strong leadership and communication as they will be working with students, staff, faculty, and outside guest artists.
Preferred Qualifications
Job Duties
- Ensure the vision of the production is maintained among student, faculty, and guest designers.
- Organize rehearsals and communications with production team.
- Rehearse the actors.
- Call the show, including lighting and sound cues, during all technical rehearsals and performances.
Physical Requirements
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Environmental Hazards
- No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Work Schedule
Sunday-Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 6:00-9:00pm.
