Position Overview

The Strategic Communications Coordinator supports the successful execution of communications initiatives across the Division of University Advancement by coordinating projects, maintaining departmental workflows, and helping ensure strategic priorities move efficiently from planning through completion.

Reporting to the Executive Director and Chief Communications Strategist, this position works closely with the team and division partners to coordinate timelines, track deliverables and facilitate communication among project stakeholders in support of departmental priorities.

This position is responsible for supporting the operational execution of Advancement Communications initiatives, allowing strategists and department leadership to focus on communications strategy, creative development, relationship management and organizational priorities. The Strategic Communications Coordinator does not direct communications strategy or own departmental systems, but serves as an operational support partner that keeps projects moving efficiently from concept through completion.

Success in this role requires exceptional organizational skills, strong communication abilities, sound judgment and the ability to anticipate needs, proactively solve problems and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in higher education, nonprofit organizations or advancement.
* Experience supporting communications, marketing, fundraising or comprehensive campaign initiatives.
* Experience coordinating complex, cross-functional projects involving multiple departments and stakeholders.
* Familiarity with project management platforms such as Wrike, Asana, Monday.com or similar software.
* Experience preparing executive reports, presentations or briefing materials.
* Demonstrated ability to improve workflows, coordinate operational activities and support organizational effectiveness.

Job Duties

Executive & Strategic Initiative Support
Supports the Executive Director and Chief Communications Strategist by coordinating administrative and operational activities that support strategic priorities.

* Maintains project timelines, dashboards, trackers and supporting documentation for executive initiatives.
* Creates and maintains Wrike projects, tasks and timelines supporting executive priorities.
* Coordinates meetings by preparing agendas, organizing materials, documenting meeting notes and tracking follow-up action items.
* Organizes and maintains departmental documentation, SharePoint resources, project files and shared resources.
* Assists with preparation and formatting of presentations, reports and other executive materials.
* Tracks progress on assigned initiatives and provides project status updates.

Campaign Communications Support
Provides operational and administrative support for communications initiatives associated with the university's comprehensive fundraising campaign.

* Maintains campaign implementation communications timelines, trackers and project documentation.
* Coordinates collection of content, approvals and supporting materials from campaign partners.
* Assists with preparation and formatting of campaign presentations, reports and implementation materials.
* Coordinates campaign meetings, agendas, meeting notes and follow-up action items.
* Organizes campaign documentation, resource libraries and historical records.
* Assists with campaign communications activities and special projects as assigned.

Communications Team Support
Provides targeted operational support to communications team staff on assigned initiatives as departmental priorities require.
