        Department Summary

        The Department of Communication Studies cultivates communication scholarship and practice from various perspectives to foster creative, self-reflexive, and engaged leaders in their personal, professional, and civic lives. We study human communication. Our students master communication skills, research communication theories, and prepare for a variety of different careers.

        UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

        Position Overview

        The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs. Adjunct Assistants are not expected to create course syllabi or assignments. Adjunct Assistants work under the leadership of another instructor, leading recitations, assessing student performance and offering timely student feedback as needed.

        Minimum Qualifications

        MA or MS in Communication Studies or closely related field.

        Preferred Qualifications

        Previous teaching experience in Communication Studies or closely related field. Terminal degree in discipline is preferred.
