Department Summary

UNT is a Class I-Doctorate Granting institution located in Denton, Texas about 40 miles north of both Dallas and Fort Worth. UNT Denton, the flagship research campus of the UNT System, has over 47,000 students and over 13,000 graduate students, and is one of the top choices in the nation for transfer students.

The Department of History has 32 full-time faculty, more than 400 undergraduate majors, and more than 80 graduate students. It awards the Ph.D. in United States history, European history, Military history, and "Body, Place, Identity" history. Position Overview

The Department of History seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025 and Summer 2025 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

Anticipated courses:
U.S. Surveys to/from 1865 (both online and face-to-face)
Upper-level undergraduate courses in U.S., European, Asian, African, or Latin American History

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in the discipline or a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours directly related to the assigned courses(s).

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in History. Two or more years of teaching experience at undergraduate level.
Experience teaching online and ability to use Canvas.
