Position Overview
This position prepares, monitors and maintains control of revenues and expenditures within a unit, and will serve as the budget role for that unit. Responsible for ensuring compliance and interpretation of federal, state and local regulation in addition to applicable University policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and three years' of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.

- Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly preferred; Financial administration and budget management experience. Experience in research grant management.

Job Duties:
- Manages the annual computer roll out plan; Manages or participates in annual activities such as budget submission and instructional fees, in accordance with state and UNT policy and procedures.
- Prepares and processes grant transmittal forms and reviews budgets for compliance with university guidelines and grantor specifications. Alerts Chair of any budget requests or commitment of departmental funds.
- Manages all research budgets (including revisions) of all departmental awards and contracts, ensuring expenditures fall within the sponsors approved categories. Reconciles inhouse records to cognos budget summaries. Provide specific instruction to Principal Investigator regarding budgeting and spending throughout the life of the grant. Assists with the closure of the grants.
- Prepare monthly financial report(s) for review by Principal Investigators. Manages departmental expenditure, revenue, and payment. Prepare monthly financial report(s) for review by Department Chairman.
- Manage hiring of hourly employees, RAs, postdocs, and all other staff paid for by research funds. Ensure hiring documents are correct and maintained for each grant account.
- Maintains checkbook register and reconcile to cognos for all budgets and income statement activity. Pcard reconciler/approver duties with deadlines set by UNTS. Supports and provides back up to all finance personnel (travel, purchasing).
- Attend applicable university and Budget Office trainings and meetings to stay current on all budget/accounting related changes.
