Position Overview
Reporting to the Director for Alumni Engagement & Outreach, The Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement is responsible for implementing a data-driven and outcome-oriented strategy to increase alumni engagement with the University of North Texas. This role focuses on strengthening connections between alumni and the university’s academic units, and to promote a culture of engagement and volunteerism among the UNT alumni base.
The Assistant Director will strategically manage initiatives that support the development of a robust pipeline of volunteers, alumni leaders and donors. Ensuring the growth and vitality of the Alumni Association.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four years of professional experience in alumni relations, engagement, donor relations, public relations, or sales; with at least one year in a supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Job Duties:
Collaborative Campus Partnerships:
- The Assistant Director will be charged with establishing collaborative partnerships with Colleges, Schools and Units (Admissions, Athletics, Career Services and Student Affairs, for example) for which alumni engagement is essential to their success. The Assistant Director will lead collaborative programs based on mutually beneficial engagement strategies.
- Position the Alumni Association as the centralized resource hub that coordinates and supports the engagement efforts of campus entities.
- Establish a clear organizational architecture for how the Alumni Association partners with Colleges, Schools and Units to reach alumni.
- Work with development colleagues to actively promote a culture of giving through all forms of alumni outreach, aimed at significantly elevating alumni participation.
Culture of Volunteerism:
- The Assistant Director will manage and promote a comprehensive alumni volunteer clearinghouse across campus to create a one-stop shop for alumni to seek out relevant volunteer and engagement opportunities.
- Grow the number of volunteer and engagement opportunities available to UNT alumni; manage the volunteer and engagement portal on the website.
- Identify and evaluate the efficacy of a volunteer and engagement inquiry process and improve the turnaround time for engagement.
- Incorporate opportunities for volunteerism into all signature alumni events.
- Create and institute procedures to collect volunteer and engagement data more regularly and accurately.
- Implement and socialize an Alumni Volunteer Pipeline.
- Thoughtfully engage volunteers and newest alumni through all campus commencement and other campus ceremonies.
Portfolio Management:
- Manage a portfolio of prospects leading efforts to connect with alumni and connect them with volunteer opportunities and solicit for entry-level giving.
Program Support:
- Support new initiatives of alumni engagement efforts including department reunions, milestone alumni celebrations, and other events as needed.
Event Participation:
- Managing engagement at evening and weekend events is required.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm; some evenings and weekends required.
