Department Summary

Transportation Services supports the University's mission by maximizing campus access through environmentally sustainable practices, superior customer service, and through innovation and professional management of transportation resources and facilities.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for directing the activities of the parking and transportation department at the University of North Texas. Directs all areas of parking, including parking enforcement, event parking support, and the evening student safe-ride shuttles. Coordinates large scale event support for campus. Participates in projects, including new lot construction, that impact parking operations throughout campus. This position reports to the Associate Director of Parking and Transportation Services, serves as a member of the department leadership team, and exercises discretion in the performance of daily responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years' of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Knowledge of policies, procedures, and technologies associated with management of parking and transportation.

* Ability to negotiate and problem solve with multiple constituencies.
* Ability to obtain a Texas driver's license.
* Skill in managing one's own time and the time of others.
* Ability to develop and implement standard operating procedures

Job Duties:

  • Has an understanding of peak work periods and demonstrates responsibility by regular attendance
  • Ensures compliance with policies, appropriate statutes, safety guidelines, and procedures. 
  • Work activities are directed toward optimal resource utilization workload (quality of work) 
  • Demonstrates and encourages responsive, courteous, accurate, and safe service delivery 
  • Work activities and outcomes are planned to exceed minimum standards (quality of work) 
  • Assist with and enforces written goals and objectives for the unit 
  • Creates and fosters a Customer first environment 
  • Ensures subordinates receive appropriate training and development to enforce/improve performance 
  • Ensures completion of performance reviews consistent with policy and deadlines 
  • Provides appropriate feedback and coaching to direct reports to enhance/improve performance

40 hours, some weekend and overtime required
