The University of North Texas System is committed to supporting the Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program established by the State of Texas.
The UNT System HUB team is always available and ready to assist department representatives with locating a qualified and responsive HUB vendor or to assist a HUB-eligible vendor to acquire HUB certification.
Position Overview
The UNT System HUB Program is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team as a HUB Specialist. This position performs routine (journey level) HUB work related to business relationship building and purchasing. Work involves HUB vendor relationship management, purchasing and procuring commodities, equipment, and services using guidelines, rules, policies, and laws. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Ability to plan and execute projects Thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate) Thorough knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate) Ability to plan and conceptualize and make sound business decisions Strong presentation skills Strong problem solving skills Strong critical thinking skills Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships Ability to work independently Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Provide direct assistance and customer service to current and prospective vendors.
- Assist businesses with the Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) certification process.
- Identify and recruit potential HUB/VetHUB vendors and evaluate eligibility for participation.
- Support vendor engagement by conducting outreach, vendor visits, and participation in procurement events.
- Promote increased HUB/VetHUB participation in university procurement opportunities.
- Plan, coordinate, and support HUB/VetHUB outreach events, forums, and networking opportunities.
- Represent the organization at procurement fairs, workshops, and community events.
- Travel (local and statewide) to meet vendors and support outreach initiatives.
- Analyze procurement and expenditure data related to HUB participation.
- Support internal audits and monitoring of HUB program effectiveness.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality customer service aligned with organizational values.
