Position Overview
UNT Health, the academic clinical practice for the University of North Texas Health Science Center, is seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This position will support both UNT Health Clinical Practice Group (CPG) and JPS Health Network, providing psychiatric care through a combined partnership designed to enhance access and continuity of behavioral health services.
The Psychiatrist will provide outpatient and consultative psychiatric services as part of a joint clinical initiative between JPS and UNT Health CPG, contributing to the mission of improving community mental health outcomes while advancing academic excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in clinical care, a commitment to education, and a collaborative spirit consistent with the values of UNT Health and TCOM.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.
- Eligible for or holds a Texas medical license.
- Board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis & treatment modalities.
- Ability to develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Commitment to mentoring students and residents in a teaching-clinical environment.
- Ability to manage documentation and clinical records in an EMR system accurately and efficiently.
- Demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and teamwork in diverse healthcare settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board Certified
- Experience providing care in both academic and community settings.
- Familiarity with integrated behavioral health models and interprofessional care.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas or eligibility to obtain one.
- DEA certification for prescribing controlled substances.
Job Duties
- Provide direct psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients through UNT Health Clinical Practice Group, including medication management and psychotherapy as appropriate.
- Provide psychiatric services to JPS Employee Health Clinic as part of the interagency collaboration, ensuring continuity of care and documentation compliance.
- Teach, mentor, and supervise medical students and residents within the TCOM and UNT Health framework.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives. Other duties as assigned.
