Position Overview

UNT Athletics is seeking a dynamic, experienced leader to serve as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Facilities, Events, and Capital Projects. This is a senior leadership position within the athletics department, reporting directly to the Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and serving as a member of the department's Senior Leadership Team. This individual will oversee all aspects of athletic facilities, game and event operations, and capital project planning and execution across Mean Green Athletics, serving as the department's primary strategic and operational leader for the physical spaces where UNT competes, trains, and welcomes fans, donors, and recruits. Depending on the experience and background of the selected candidate, this role may also carry sport program administrator responsibilities. This is a high-impact role for a builder who thrives on solving complex operational challenges, leading people, and delivering a first-class gameday and facility experience at a program on the rise.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in in related field and five years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Extensive knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to facilities, construction, procurement, and event operations (or ability to rapidly assimilate); strong planning and project management skills; ability to direct and manage the work of others; sound judgment under the pressure of live events and competing deadlines; and a collaborative, service-oriented leadership style.

Preferred Qualifications

•Master's degree in athletics administration, sport management, business, construction management, or a related field.
•Direct experience leading a major athletics capital project from planning through construction.

Job Duties

• Facilities & Capital Projects • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for all UNT athletic facilities, ensuring they are best-in-class and reflect positively on the department to fans, guests, donors, and recruits. • Lead planning, coordination, and execution of athletics capital improvement projects, serving as the department's construction representative on active projects from design through completion. • Develop, monitor, and manage facility, operations, and construction budgets in partnership with department finance and campus facilities leadership. • Oversee maintenance programs, custodial contracts, and vendor relationships to ensure facilities are consistently maintained to a championship standard. • Build and maintain strong working relationships with campus facilities, planning, and construction partners. 
• Event & Game Day Operations • Direct all aspects of game management and event operations for Mean Green Athletics, including coordination of game managers across all sports. • Lead scheduling of athletics facilities according to department policy and competing priorities across sports and campus partners. • Oversee logistics, coordination, and staffing (full-time and part-time event staff) for home competitions, championships, outside events, and major department events. • Serve as a key partner to marketing, ticketing, and fan engagement leadership in delivering an elite gameday experience that supports the department's attendance and revenue goals. • Provide leadership and coordination for NCAA and conference championship event logistics and travel as needed.
• Leadership & Strategic Planning • Serve as a member of the UNT Athletics Senior Leadership Team, contributing to department-wide strategy, planning, and decision-making, including progress on the department's Take Flight Strategic Plan. • Hire, develop, and supervise facilities and event operations staff, building a high-performing team and a strong departmental culture. • Partner with the Associate Vice President/Chief Operating Officer and fellow senior leaders on cross-functional initiatives, budgeting, and long-range planning. • May serve as sport program administrator for one or more varsity programs, depending on experience. • Represent the department with campus leadership, City of Denton officials, contractors, and other external stakeholders as needed.
