Department Summary
The University of North Texas competes as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the American Conference. North Texas’ athletic programs are classified as NCAA Division I, the largest and highest division among all colleges and universities. The 46,000 square-foot Athletic Center located off South Bonnie Brae Street is the centerpiece of North Texas athletics. Athletics strives to conduct a competitive athletics program that promotes faculty, staff, student and community affiliation and participation with the North Texas Athletics. Position Overview
The Assistant Swimming Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the swimming program, including training, recruiting, and student-athlete development. This role is responsible for helping create a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented environment for student-athletes while ensuring compliance with department, UNT, and conference regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in related sport; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
Experience coaching at Division I level
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Assist in planning and conducting practice and training sessions. -
- Support meet preparation, strategy, and in-competition coaching.
- Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations and complies with the same.
- Provide technical instruction to enhance athlete performance and skill development
- Assists in scouting and recruiting activities; may be responsible for specific geographic area.
- Assist with recruiting efforts, including identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes
- Assist with monitoring academic progress and adherence to Academic Support policies and procedures.
- Assist with administrative duties as assigned.
- Works with Athletics sports medicine and strength and conditioning personnel, and with physicians as needed to implement team wellness and conditioning programs.
- Ensure adherence to all conference, institutional, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Head Coach, Athletics Director and/or Executive Team.
