Position Overview
As part of the Department of Academic Advising and Student Success, this position is responsible for the coordination and administration of advising services of an assigned college or area. The position manages departmental processes and functions as advising office resource expert for more complex advising issues. This position also collaborates and assists in the development and implementation of assigned departmental projects and educational programs, exercising considerable initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned duties. Supervises and participates in the day-to-day operations of the Academic Advising Center ensuring that all “customers,” both internal and external, have the best academic advising experience. This is done through consistent, exceptional customer service, development of the academic advisors plus peer advisors and Academic Advising & Student Success Leadership Team, and the maintaining of the Academic Advising Center visual standards as well as compliance with established policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree and 5 years' of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate)
- Thorough knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate)

- Depth of knowledge in academic advising, student service, and student development

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a related field.
- Six or more years in related experience working in academic advising, academic programs, or student support programs.
- Knowledge of EAB Navigate 360, PeopleSoft, and Visual Schedule Builder.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of best practices in student retention and success programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead well and build rapport with college students, parents, faculty, the public, and administrative leadership.
- Ability to achieve a high degree of attention to detail.
- Self-directed and able to work independently, work collaboratively with others, and under direct supervision.
- Demonstrated expertise to learn, interpret, and articulate complex policies and procedures.
- Highly organized and capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines.

Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- May advise both group and individual settings with current and prospective students while maintaining appropriate student records.
- Allocates fiscal and personnel resources responsibly.
- Establishes a partnership with department chairs and program coordinators to ensure academic advising services meet the distinct needs of programs and students.
- Encourages the Academic Advising Center's mission of fostering academic success and personal growth by empowering undergraduate students to actively engage in their educational journey at UNT Dallas, achieved through inspiring communication, integrity, and a passionate commitment to advising.
- Serves as Leader on Duty to coach and motivate advisors while upholding a culture that builds exceptional internal and external customer experiences. This is accomplished through in house one-on-one customer engagement and building an emotional connection with customers.

- Works in collaboration with internal and external departmental staff and administration to leverage synergy opportunities across functions and businesses.

- Establishes Key Performance Indicators for academic advisors to support institutional goals for student success and graduation.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; A few weekends, travel may be required.
