Department Summary
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL) in the Ryan College of Business at UNT supports undergraduate degrees in Finance; Real Estate; Risk Management and Insurance; Financial Planning; an MS degree in Finance, an MBA degree with Finance concentration; and a Ph.D. degree in Finance. The department consists of nineteen tenure track/tenured faculty, four clinical faculty, four lecturers and three staff. Department faculty regularly publish in recognized journals in their fields. Research is actively supported through subscription to databases such as WRDS, CRSP, Compustat, Bloomberg, MSCI ESG metrics (climate change, corporate and funds), S&P Global Market Intelligence (Banking, Insurance and Real Estate modules), S&P Capital IQ, BoardEx, Thomson Reuters SDC (most modules), Refinitiv IBES Analyst Forecast Data, Morningstar Direct, Eventus and Audit Analytics.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law, at the University of North Texas, Ryan College of Business, invites applications for the appointment of a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance starting in Fall 2024, with consideration to start Spring 2025. Duties will include teaching finance related courses at the bachelor’s and master’s levels on the Denton main campus, Frisco branch campus and off-site locations (face-to-face and/or online/remote); conducting quality finance research and publishing in peer-reviewed academic and practitioner-oriented finance journals; advising masters and undergraduate students; and participating in departmental, college and university service.
Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree in the discipline or a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours directly related to the assigned courses(s).
The candidate should have 5 years in the rank of assistant clinical professor or have equivalent prior relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Teaching/research/working experience in banking
* Record of quality publications in peer-reviewed academic and practitioner-oriented finance journals.
* Experience teaching a variety of Finance undergraduate and graduate level courses.
* Record of positive teaching evaluations for university level finance related courses.
* Professional designations such as CFA or CFP, ABA certificate in Business and Commercial Lending.
* Experience in developing and delivering online courses in the areas of finance.
