The UNT Career Center is the centralized career office responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. It has responsibility for all Student Employment, Internships, and Post-Graduate Employment of UNT students.
Position Overview
The Career Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Business Career Coach (Student Services Coordinator) for the Wilson Jones Career Center in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at the University of North Texas. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career development and job search programs and services to students by working with students, faculty and staff in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business. This includes but is not limited to individual advising, group workshops, presentations, and facilitating classes/course. Interface with students at all degree levels and alumni in assigned academic/programmatic areas. Analyze students career paths, initiate career assessments, and provide advice. Develop and conduct workshops, assess their effectiveness and implement changes needed to engage students.
Develop ongoing relationships and work cooperatively with faculty and administration in assigned areas. Manage the assessment of career programs and services and deliver reports to their supervisor. Lead job market research efforts for their assigned area, to provide current and relevant data to faculty and students. Work directly with student organizations in making connections to corporate speakers/mentors. Provide marketing of career services to the students and faculty in the assigned department. Assist with and support employer development and relations within the G. Brint Ryan College of Business. Provide assistance to other units in the Career Center and perform other duties as assigned for optimal operational success of the Wilson Jones Career Center.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years' of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
Experience in networking across departments and programs.
Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population.
Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above, the preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: A Master’s degree in Higher Education, Human Resources Management, Career Counseling, or MBA or equivalent degrees. Background in and knowledge of college business academic curricula. Experience with and understanding of recruiter needs for business functions within industry, nonprofit, and government. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience working directly with business majors Knowledge of careers in IT and Business Analytics. Awareness of trends in technology and business analytics. Experience in the field of information technology or business analytics a plus. Knowledge of career development, resources and theories, job search techniques and technologies. Familiarity with career assessment tools. The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in a related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Some experience in customer service is also preferred.

Job Duties:
- Interface with students as they seek guidance concerning employment, career development, internships, jobs, graduate school, and career related issues
- Analyze students career paths, initiate career assessments, provide advice on resume development, interview preparation, and offer internship, job, and graduate school planning search resources
- Develop and conduct workshops, classes, seminars on a variety of topics, assess their effectiveness and implement changes needed to engage and enhance student preparedness for the workplace
- Develop ongoing relationship with faculty, staff and administration working with the College student population
- Develop reports on the statistical data for all student engagement and programming for assigned area(s) of responsibility to be used for the Career Center data collection
- Work cooperatively with faculty and the Career Center Employer Development and Outreach Team to utilize more companies and alumni from a broad range of industries to engage with students on campus
- Assist other staff members in the areas of the event program management and the mentoring program where necessary
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday 8am-5pm; evenings and weekends as necessary
