Department Summary
The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all HSC students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office of Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.
Position Overview
The Division of Student and Academic Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Senior Student Services Coordinator to join our team. As a Member of the Career Readiness Center, the specific role of this positon will be to serve as Senior Career Consultant. General duties include providing resources, programming, and advising to assist graduate students in developing their career readiness skills in order to facilitate career success. Additional duties will include cofacilitating the institutional microcredentialing program (internal and external), and serving as primary career consultant for undergraduate and nondegree/certificate seeking enrollees.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with FERPA regulations and how to implement them in student interactions.Excellent customer service skills.Ability to set and adhere to strict deadlines.Attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent interpersonal skills and proven written communication skills.Ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high paced, timesensitive environment.Strong computer skills and proficiency working with a wide range of software programs including Word, Excel, and database management tools.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Masters degree preferred in education, business, counseling, psychology or related field. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to work indepedently and effectively with students, faculty, and administration. Two years experience in related field or any combination of education and experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comprehensive knowledge of webbased career guidance and career assessment tools as well as social media and networking platforms. Highly organized selfstarter with the ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high volume, timesensitive environment. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to provide timely and accurate data pertaining to career consultation activities and placement status. Confident in speaking before groups of students of up to 300.

Job Duties:
- Facilitate the Career Readiness microcredentialing program in collaboration with other campus stakeholders, including the delivery of marketing solutions to recruit and enroll internal and external learners, monitoring enrollee progress, and advising students on the eportfolio platform.
- Assist with administration of data collection and reporting for student consultation, career placement, and other assessment activities.
- Develop counseling strategies with students regarding career readiness, including but not limited to the development of resumes / CVs, cover letters, statements of purpose, letters of recommendation, interviewing techniques, and other general job search strategies.
- Develop and implement career readiness advising activities, events, and programs in collaboration with assigned academic and certificate programs.
- Administer, analyze, and counsel students on personality and career assessment tools as part of comprehensive career strategy (e.g., MyersBriggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, Selfdirected Search, YouScience, and similar tools).
- Administer career readiness advising and resources for specialized student populations, including Military Students (active, reserves, and military dependents), International Students, Students with Disabilities, and other student identity groups as defined.
- Design and deliver classroom instruction including assignment of grades in support of career readiness activities in academic courses.
- Promote fulltime and parttime/oncampus job opportunities and internships in electronic and written form as well as through job fairs and other promotional activities.
- Serve as liaison with hiring managers, recruiters, and other stakeholders in facilitating student career placement.
- Manage web and social media communication for career development resources, activities, and events.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm, with occasional evenings or weekends as required for divisional events.
