Position Overview

This position is responsible for writing, editing, and disseminating content that supports LLCE. This position writes and edits content for multiple audiences and in varying media (online, print, broadcast) and includes: brochures, websites, social media, reports, catalogs, and communications, etc. for various target audiences. This position is the point of contact for communicating with members of LLCE organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years of experience in writing and/or editing publications; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to conceptualize, write and edit strategic content for university audiences.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, conduct multiple tasks and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate large projects with numerous components.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to visually inspect print and digital copy including experience in creative editing and fact checking techniques.
  • Works effectively within a team.
  • Effectively works closely with staff, faculty and students toward a common goal.
  • Extensive knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation and Associated Press and Chicago Manual styles.
  • Knowledge of writing styles and guidelines for various media formats and ability to create, coordinate and edit copy for each format (print, digital/social media, video, broadcast, etc.).
  • Understanding of institutional strategy (or ability to quickly assimilate) and ability to integrate strategy into modes of communication.
  • Ability to supervise and/or coordinate the work of others.
  • Knowledge of and ability to research industry best practices to assist in aligning strategies for publications with university strategy and guidelines and effectively edit and improve content for readers based on best practices.

Job Duties:

Marketing & Content Creation

  • Create written, visual, video and graphic content for print and online publications for the Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement (LLCE) programs.
  • Produce three Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at University (OLLI at UNT) catalogs annually
  • Handle all social media for LLCE programs. Maintain and update the OLLI at UNT and UNTRA websites as needed.
  • Promote awareness of OLLI at UNT and UNTRA via appropriate marketing and advertising opportunities (articles for magazines, ads, newspaper articles, etc.)
  • Develop low-cost marketing items/strategies for LLCE programs.
  • Coordinate logistics and timelines for communications and marketing in all LLCE programs.
  • Produce the OLLI at UNT Podcast.
  • Oversee the Authors Out Loud Series via Zoom.

Member Communication

  • Prepare and distribute the OLLI at UNT weekly email and communicate with OLLI at UNT members via email as needed.
  • Communicate with UNTRA members via email or other methods as needed.

Livestream Production

  • Produce all OLLI at UNT and UNTRA livestreams from the UNT SSB location.

Additional Duties

  • Work with Advancement’s communication team to assist with LLCE’s communications needs.
  • Maintain a relationship with Campus CE and take necessary trainings to stay up to date on processes.
  • Assist Senior Director as requested on various tasks such as monitoring class evaluations, working with members, responding to member needs, hosting a limited number of classes, etc.

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
