The Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library supports the education, research, patient care, and community service missions of the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) by meeting the information needs of faculty, students, staff, and the local health sciences community.
Position Overview
Gibson D. Lewis Library at UNT Health Fort Worth is seeking to hire a temporary part-time, hourly Digital Accessibility Library Technician to join our team. This position is temporary without benefits, with an end date of 8/31/2026 with the possibility for a one-year extension at Gibson D. Lewis Library’s sole discretion.
This part-time, hourly position will work as part of the Library Digital Scholarship team supporting the creation, dissemination, and curation of campus scholarship. This role primarily will be responsible for assessing and improving the accessibility of digital documents. All work will be performed in compliance with training and documentation provided by the hiring manager and other Library staff.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to understand training, instructions and project documentation and apply to assigned job duties and tasks.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and be flexible and adaptable.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in accessibility of digital content.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital content.
- Experience working in libraries.
- Experience with accessibility remediation software (Microsoft Accessibility Checker, Canva Accessibility Checker, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Equidox, CommonLook, or similar.)
- Familiarity with assistive technologies such as screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, etc.)
- Currently enrolled in a library, information sciences, or related graduate program.
Job Duties
- Review and remediate digital documents (PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) to meet WCAG 2.1 A/AA and Section 508 compliance standards.
- Utilize Equidox, Adobe Acrobat and other software as needed to assess and improve the accessibility of PDF documents.
- Other duties as assigned.

Hybrid with flexible work hours between Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
