HSC is dedicated to fostering a culture of assessment, continuous quality improvement, and evidence-based decision support. The Office of University Assessment and Accreditation does this by providing integrated expertise in three functional areas: outcomes assessment, accreditation, and planning and decision support.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing supportive leadership in the strategic and operational aspects of the assessment of student learning outcomes and administrative effectiveness on campus. Working with faculty and staff, this position will support the development of student learning and program outcomes; will assist the development and implementation of assessments tied to student learning and program outcomes; will assist in the development and implementation of methods and processes for data collection and analysis relating to student learning and program outcomes; and will support and create ongoing training of faculty and staff members.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years' of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience driving large projects and programs to completion
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis and working with real time analytics
- Knowledge of current, complex higher education issues and trends and how they impact the organization
- Advanced knowledge of survey design and methodology
- Knowledge of Qualtrics or similar software
- Knowledge of institutional research and reporting requirements
- Ability to develop and use metrics to evaluate programs
- Ability to access, analyze, and report quantitative and qualitative data and create reports
- Analytical and quantitative skills and knowledge of database development, data collection, and analysis
- Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to evaluate situations using multiple sources of information
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization including senior leaders
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations for senior leaders
- Ability to complete work in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to perform independently and as a team member
- Ability to interact with diverse groups within and outside the institution and to provide exceptional customer service
- Ability to manage and coach others
- Ability to use data visualization software
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MPA, M.Ed.) in educational business, public administration, or related field preferred. Advanced exposure to higher education, healthcare, or any industry where applicable experience may be gained, and the organizational dynamics of this industry preferred. Self-starter with initiative and ability to work under minimal supervision.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Conduct short term and long term planning with respect to student learning assessment and administrative effectiveness.
- Identify and apply best and emerging best practices and educational research in developing student learning assessment and administrative effectiveness.
- In conjunction with faculty and staff, oversee and implement the development of program level student learning and program outcomes; oversee and implement ongoing implementation of program level student learning and program outcomes; and oversee and directly participate in development of assessment planning for program level learning and program outcomes.
- Track and document outcome and assessment data required for SACSCOC accreditation and programmatic/specialized accreditation efforts, as applicable.
- Oversee the support and development of ongoing training of faculty and staff on best practices related to assessment, developing assessment instruments, and evaluating the validity and reliability of assessment instruments.
- Recommend, adopt, or develop the processes, procedures, tools, policies, and techniques needed for the responsibilities of the position.
