Department Summary
The UNTD School of Education’s residency program has seen significant growth, with paid placements increasing from 5 to 23 this year and overall placements expanding from 30 to 50. Continued partnerships with area school districts have also generated increased interest from additional districts seeking collaboration. This rapid expansion has created greater volume and complexity in coordinating placements, requiring a dedicated role to ensure consistent oversight, proper documentation, regulatory compliance, and strong partnership support. Accurate recording and data management provided by this role are also essential for successful audits and continued accreditation.
Position Overview
This position serves a critical function in overseeing the clinical and residency placement process, maintaining compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements, and supporting students, faculty, and district site partners throughout all practicum and field experiences. Acting as Team Lead for SOE University Field Supervisors and liaison with partner school districts, the Field Experience Coordinator ensures quality, consistency, proper documentation, and effective communication across.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience with using social media for outreach and advertising.
- Experience managing data and related software.
- Experience working with community partnerships (e.g., school districts).
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Education, or a related field.
• Teaching certification, preferred Bilingual Certification
• Fully trained in Texas Teacher Evaluation Support System (T-TESS)
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Manage University Field Supervisors, to include their schedules, case workloads, annual training, and professional development.
- Oversee state regulated requirements for student experiences.
- Foster partnerships with schools, districts, and external stakeholder organizations.
- Connect students with relevant field placements, internships, or residencies.
- Ensure students meet the necessary criteria for their placements.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Track and report on student hours and evaluations to ensure all internship and licensure requirements are met.
- Act as the primary liaison between the university and field sites, responding to questions from both students and site supervisors.
- Communicate field policies and expectations to students and site personnel.
- Collaborate with faculty, program directors, and other university staff on student placement needs.
- Assist in resolving problems that arise during a field placement.
- Troubleshoot issues with students, site supervisors, and faculty.
- Monitor the implementation of field experience policies and procedures.
- Help develop or revise policies and procedures as needed.
- Report on progress and issues to the field director and other relevant staff.
