Department Summary
Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program at the University of North Texas that prepares first-generation and limited-income high school students for college and career success. The program provides academic support, tutoring, mentoring, college and career counseling, financial literacy, college tours, and enrichment activities to help students overcome barriers, pursue higher education, and achieve their goals.
Position Overview
UNT Upward Bound is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic READING teacher to provide reading and literacy instruction to high school students during our Saturday academic sessions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors in English, education or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The teacher will help students strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, analysis, and college-readiness skills through engaging lessons and activities.

Job Duties
- Preparing and delivering engaging reading lessons, facilitating classroom discussions, supporting student academic growth, maintaining a positive learning environment, and communicating with Upward Bound staff regarding student progress.

Work Schedule
2 Saturdays a month from 9am-1:10pm (roughly 10 hours a week)
