Position Overview
UNT Health Family Medicine is seeking a compassionate Lead Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team of healthcare providers at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. The Lead Medical Assistant will perform administrative, clerical and some clinical duties under the direction of a clinician or clinic supervisor. This role requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, a variable set of interests and skill set, and strong interpersonal communication abilities. Candidate must exhibit compassion, understanding, the ability to work well in teams, and the ability to function in a fast paced environment is critical for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a Certified Medical Assistant, have a CPR certification, graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program, and one (1) year of relevant work experience.

- Medical office operations support knowledge.
- Ability to effectively manage time, to adjust to changes, and to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data and patient information.
- Ability to take initiative in identifying issues and solving problems.
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Prior medical office back, referral processing and appointment scheduling experience preferred.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required and other relevant work experience.Medical Assistant certification, and CPR (BLS) certification.
Job Duties
- Optimize patient scheduling by managing patient flow and providing access to care. Following standard Department workflows, provides guidance to team members in maintaining patient flow.
- Ensures exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and materials. Informs clinic leadership of medical supplies to be ordered.
- Deliver culturally competent care that respects each patients individual beliefs.
- Onboard new clinical team members and provide training.
- Measure patient vital signs as standard of care. Perform procedures, injections, and administer vaccines as ordered by the provider. All care documented in the electronic health record.
- Oversees maintenance for compliance to ensure clinical equipment is UpToDate.
- Provides first level guidance to Medical Assistants for best practices in coordination with clinic supervisor/manager.

- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
