Department Summary
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration seeks to improve educational practice through the generation of knowledge and to prepare education professionals. Its focus is on the preparation of highly competent educators, researchers and administrators who employ current theory and research as they fill these important roles. The department also provides service to educational institutions, governmental agencies and practitioners at all levels.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Overview
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration (TE&A) invites applications for full-time, 9-month, Lecturer positions, beginning Fall of 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and success of the department through teaching and service. Annual reappointment is possible based on satisfactory performance. As a Professional (non-tenure track) faculty member, candidates will be expected to utilize research-based teaching practices that enhance the learning of our students in the areas of curriculum and instruction/teacher education (offered at the UNT campus and other off-site locations); supervise undergraduate students in internships as needed; and provide service to the Department, College, and University. Summer teaching opportunities are contingent on student demand and funding.
We anticipate several Lecturer (Continuing) openings for the Fall of 2024. As openings arise, we will actively source candidates from this applicant pool.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a valid Texas EC-6 (or all level) Teacher Certification, a minimum of a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction/teacher education (or closely related field) with an emphasis in bilingual education; English language learning; literacy education; science, math and/or social studies at the time of appointment. Successful candidates must have at least four (4) years of public-school teaching experience in EC-6. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and experience working with pre-service and/or in-service teachers.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with recent EC-6 experience.
