HSC Health is the academic clinical practice for the Health Science Center. Focused on improving health outcomes to build a healthier community. HSC Health primary and multispecialty care clinics are located on the HSC campus in Fort Worth. Our care teams extend to local hospitals, surgery centers, long-term and continuing care centers, and mobile and in-home care. HSC Health’s interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses work together while intentionally integrating health care students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community.
Position Overview
HSC Health Cardiology is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Responsible for insurance verification, insurance authorizations, medication prior authorizations, specific knowledge of medical terminology, clinic, or laboratory procedure, patient scheduling. This role requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, a diverse set of interests and skill set, and strong interpersonal communication abilities. Candidate must exhibit compassion, understanding, the ability to work well in teams.
Minimum Qualifications
Please add High school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program and six (6) months of customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years related experience in ambulatory care, NextGen experience, Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Medical Assistant certification
Job Duties:
- Insurance Verification
- obtain insurance prior authorizations for cardiac testing
- Obtain medication prior authorizations
- Maintain medical records, technical library, or correspondence files.
- Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, or medical consultations.
- Transmit all correspondence or medical records by mail, e-mail, or fax
- Receive and route messages or documents, such as laboratory results, to appropriate staff, or into patient chart
Physical Requirements:
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
