UNT Health is the academic clinical practice for the Health Science Center. Focused on improving health outcomes to build a healthier community. UNT Health primary and multi-specialty care clinics are located on the UNTHSC campus in Fort Worth. Our care teams extend to local hospitals, surgery centers, and mobile and in-home care. UNT Health’s interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses work together while intentionally integrating healthcare, students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community.
Position Overview
The Patient Access Representative is primarily responsible for greeting patients, managing appointment scheduling, answering phone calls, handling patient check-in/check-out procedures, collecting payments, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a positive patient experience. This position serves as the first point of contact for our patients.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and one year of customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to multitask in a busy environment while maintaining professional composure. Skilled in consistently completing assignments on time, accurately, and with attention to detail. Excellent customer service and strong communication skills. Demonstrates basic skills and knowledge of the position.
Job Duties
- Maintain patient schedule prep and ensure it is completed within the directed timeframe.
- Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, or registration. Gather patient insurance information and check eligibility.
- Perform various clerical or administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
- Receive and route patient messages or documents to appropriate staff.
- Greet visitors, ascertain the purpose of the visit, and direct them to appropriate staff. Complete patient appointment check-in and check-out.
- Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff. Schedule and confirm patient appointments or medical consultations.
Physical Requirements
- Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds

Work Schedule
Up to 19 hours per week; the specific work schedule will be determined based on the candidate’s availability and the needs of the department.
