Position Overview
The Department of Chemistry at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Research Assistant to join our team. The candidate will assist in the lab of Dr. Mohammad Omary on research in the fields of Inorganic and Materials Chemistry, conducting research into Flourous metal-organic frameworks (FMOFs) and their applications.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with major course work in the field of assignment, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of scientific research techniques, methods and procedures.
* Working knowledge of equipment used in related fields of research.
* Considerable knowledge of health, safety, and security precautions in keeping with type of research being done.
* Ability to set up and operate research instrumentation and equipment. Ability to make accurate assays and to prepare reports, charts, or graphs on results.
* Ability to work effectively with fellow researchers, staff members, faculty, supervisors and students.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative environment
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Work with graduate students on research projects to train them and aid with the use of equipment.
- Conduct research into the organic and inorganic synthesis of hydrophobic porous and non-porous materials.
- Work closely with the PI to track the execution of tasks.
- Participate in weekly project meetings.
- Participate in the technical and management sides of sponsored research.
- Contribute to proposals and manuscripts.
- Participate in tracking of deliverables and mandatory reporting.
