Department Summary

Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Genetics is seeking qualified individuals to teach graduate level courses in Clinical Research Management in Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences as Adjunct Faculty. The Clinical Research Management curriculum focuses on providing students a broad-based view of the biomedical sciences, as well as an in depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (CFR, GCP), ethical issues, and both the medical writing and administrative skills necessary to conduct clinical research. The selected individual will be required to teach the students enrolled in the online MS in Clinical Research Management for Clinical Data Management course. This new online course on Clinical data management will provide critical concepts and practical methods to support planning, collection, storage, and dissemination of data in clinical research.

Position Overview

Dr. Stankowska's laboratory in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Genetics (MIG) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking a dedicated Research Technician to join our team. The technician will play a critical role in supporting ongoing research projects focused on understanding mechanisms of neuroprotection.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and skills in using a range of software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SPSS, STATA.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to perform administrative/clerical tasks.
  • Aptitude in general laboratory procedures, techniques, and documentation.
  • Ability to acquire competence in new techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with rodent handling and experimental procedures.
  • Proficiency in histological techniques, including tissue isolation and staining.
  • Familiarity with electrophysiology techniques such as PERG or VEP.
  • Previous experience in data analysis and report preparation.

Job Duties:

  • Measuring intraocular pressure (IOP) in rodent models. 
  • Conducting intravitreal injections and recording Pattern Electroretinogram (PERG) and Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) data. 
  • Isolating tissues for analysis and performing cell survival studies. 
  • Performing PPD staining of optic nerves to evaluate axonal protection.
  • Assisting with data collection, analysis, and report generation to ensure research objectives are met on schedule.
