Position Overview
The Research Budget Director advises the AVP and the EVP for Research, implements budgeting and financial record keeping procedures to ensure efficient coordination of various departmental and designated accounts and maintains accurate information. The position will serve as the Financial Officer reporting through the Assistant Vice President for DRI with a parallel reporting line to the Executive Vice President for Research Innovation. The position will provide oversight in management and data analysis of financial and budgetary matters for the AVP for Research, as well as for departments and institutes within the division.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and six (6) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Candidates should demonstrate knowledge in financial and budget management, analysis and forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Experience and knowledge in institutional research would be beneficial.
- This position requires a high degree of self direction, including ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines at short notice, and forward thinking management skills.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills are required, as well as the ability to use accounting and management software.

Job Duties:
- Participate in and support strategic long-term financial planning efforts to ensure financial resources are available to achieve the goals and objectives of the Division of Research and Innovation.
- Oversight of financial systems and related approvals.
- Develop and maintain monthly financial reports for all accounts of Division of Research and the institutes, including monitoring the financial position against budget on a regular basis and communicate findings to the AVP, and department administrators.
- Create interactive data visualizations from multiple data sources using Power BI and share important financial information that drive the success of the Division of Research.
- Build strong working relationship between the Finance Office and the Division of Research. Coordinate with the Finance Office and Division of Research on all financial activities Institutional cost allocations.
- Assist with budgeting and planning processes in collaboration with University's AVP for Research and Institutional Planning; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep the AVP informed of the financial status of accounts.
- Represent the division on numerous task forces.
- Other duties as assigned.
