Department Summary
Research Integrity and Compliance (RIC) unit within the Division of Research & Innovation is committed to serving, educating, and supporting the UNT research community by ensuring that the Institution and investigators conduct research in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as university policies and procedures. The RIC unit provides guidance and assistance to researchers in the following areas: Human Subjects and Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Conflict of interest (COI), Export controls, and Responsible conduct of research (RCR).
Position Overview
The Research Compliance Analyst assists with operational tasks for the Research Integrity and Compliance unit, specifically working with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) team. The Analyst will track and process incoming protocols, and assist with protocol reviews and follow-up tasks for the research compliance programs. Also assists the UNT research community with protocol development, procedures, electronic systems, and ensuring compliance throughout the process. Additionally, the Analyst will maintain file systems, correspond with researchers and other collaborating units across campus, assist with audits and monitoring, and assist with education and training programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Public Administration or related field and three years professional business administration work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to understand, analyze and communicate effectively with faculty and administrators regarding human subject research.
* Ability to handle multiple, time-critical tasks.
* Ability to respond to and resolve routine inquiries or complaints from faculty and staff.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, website content construction, communication and basic statistical operations.
* Effective written and oral communication skills.
* Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in research compliance in higher education
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties
- Monitors incoming IRB submissions within the IRB software tracking system. Reviews IRB protocol submissions.
- Works and collaborates with faculty and staff from other departments to answer research compliance questions. Provide guidance and ensure continuity of workflow.
- Administrates supporting functions to the review process including, but not limited to, Reliance Agreements and Human Subjects Research Determinations.
- Provides training and education to UNT faculty, staff, and students on compliance programs and electronic systems. Provides troubleshooting and support for users as needed on the Research Integrity Compliance software system used for compliance protocol submissions.
- Serves as a backup research compliance analyst to the other research compliance programs within the department, as needed. Assists with special projects, reporting, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
