Position Overview
The research coordinator will support research related activities for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) and support the Associate Dean for Research with administrative duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years research related experience, experience in higher education or any combination of both.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced skills with common office productivity software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Photoshop.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to function independently, uses discretion, works under pressure and prioritizes tasks in order to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree with at least 5 years research related experience, higher education or combination of both.
- Experience in an academic health center environment providing administrative support.
- Administrative experience/exposure to grants management and research procedures.
Job Duties:
- Coordinate research projects as a member of a research team and perform tasks such as, but not limited to, recruiting, enrolling, consenting and interviewing research subjects, maintaining research files and maintaining research databases as assigned.
- Serve as the IRB liaison. Responsible for knowing local research and Institutional Review Board regulations and federal research regulations as applicable to this study. Understand the IRB protocol for lab studies and ensure that it is followed.
- Participate in the recording and analysis of research data and in the production of publications and presentations related to the research project.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of UNTHSC and sponsor policies and procedures as well as federal regulations governing submission of proposals for external funding.
- Interprets and explains regulations, policies and procedures to staff and faculty.
- Selects and determines procedures, processes, techniques and methods by which selected goals may be accomplished.
- Prepare invoices, reports, memos, letters, financial statements and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software.
- Prepare agendas and make arrangements, such as coordinating catering for luncheons, for committee, board, and other meetings.
- Uses UNTHSC financial systems to track budgets, expenses, encumbrances, as well as generate projections. Structures and tracks cost share funds and works to ensure timely fiscal reporting and reviews.
