Department Summary
The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is excited to launch its College of Nursing. The college of nursing is addressing the shortage of nurses in Texas, which has the second-fewest nurses per capita in the U.S.
The College of Nursing has joined five other colleges and schools offering degree programs at HSC: the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy.
Position Overview
UNT Health Science Center (HSC) College of Nursing is seeking an application for a Research Professor position. The successful candidate will conduct research, bring and seek intra and extramural funding opportunities, mentor faculty, advise students, teach courses, and engage in service to the department, university, and profession. The candidate will provide mentorship to junior research faculty and assist in deepening academic knowledge and building essentials skills. The position is a professor rank and is a non-tenure appointment.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Ph.D. or equivalent in nursing or a related field.
- Strong track record of securing extramural and federal funding for research.
- Eligibility to transfer existing funding to UNTHSC College of Nursing.
- Demonstrated excellence in research, teaching and service.
- A record of scholarly research and publication in nursing or related fields.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary research teams.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Develop and revise course content and instructional materials in accordance with
departmental and university standards.
- Foster partnerships that enhance the research capacity of the College of Nursing and
contribute to improving healthcare outcomes.
- Maintain an active role in professional activities through participation in professional
organizations, community outreach, and other related activities.
Job Duties:
- Lead and manage a productive research portfolio focused on nursing practice, education, health outcomes, or healthcare policy.
- Foster partnerships that enhance the research capacity of the College of Nursing and contribute to improving healthcare outcomes.
- Mentor junior faculty in research and scholarship in nursing or related fields.
- Facilitate applications for extramural funding.
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses in assigned areas in expertise.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching, research, and service.
- Maintain an active role in professional activities through participation in professional organizations, community outreach, and other related activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of college of nursing office of research.
- Participate in departmental and university committees and service activities.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to faculty and nursing students.
- Publish research findings in peer reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.
- Develop and revise course content and instructional materials in accordance with departmental and university standards.
