Assistant Professor – Information Technology: Cybersecurity Specialization

This position is responsible for teaching four (4) courses per semester and participating in service activities such as program development, course development, program assessment, program accreditation, and committee leadership. The successful applicant will be the inaugural cybersecurity professor at UNT Dallas and will be expected to engage in high-quality research and scholarship in their field, as well as provide instruction in a full range of undergraduate Cybersecurity and Information Technology courses, including but not limited to Foundations of Cybersecurity, Network Administration, Cloud Security, Computer Forensics, Computer Networks, and Programming. This position is scheduled to start Fall 2027 with the possibility of a Spring 2027 start. UNT Dallas is bridging the gap between education and workforce readiness through our innovative Classroom to Career initiative. This initiative integrates experiential learning—such as internships, service learning, and project-based collaborations with industry partners—into every student’s academic journey. Expectations for tenure-track faculty at UNT Dallas include excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, resulting in contributions equivalent to a four-course workload each semester. This expectation may be fulfilled through a combination of teaching, scholarly activity, curriculum and program development, and institutional leadership. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate philosophy courses, develop a Philosophy minor, collaborate with faculty across disciplines to create innovative interdisciplinary minors and certificate programs, and contribute to university-wide initiatives that enhance student learning and success. The faculty member will also engage in scholarly activities appropriate to rank and participate in student mentoring, assessment, recruitment, and shared governance.

The UNT Dallas College of Law welcomes applications from experienced lawyers, judges, and law school instructors who are interested serving a Professor of Practice. This is a year-round, faculty position, Professor of Practice, for the experiential education department. This position will provide academic instruction and assistance in the development of experiential courses and programs within the entire J.D. curriculum. This department manages the Community Lawyering Center (CLC), Joyce Ann Brown Innocence Clinic (JABIC), externships, and the COL required student volunteer program, Community Engagement Program (CEP). Dependent upon the needs of the department, this position may be tasked with serving as a faculty supervisor in the Community Lawyering Center (CLC) or with the management and teaching of the externship course. The CLC accepts cases involving a broad range of civil legal issues including family law, housing, consumer, governmental benefits, and other areas. Alternatively, the person may be tasked with management and teaching of the externship course, identifying and developing placements for externships; training field supervisors; teaching the classroom component of externship placements. This position will also contribute to the supervision of CEP projects and other activities sponsored by the experiential education department as needed. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and service, and to assist in further development of the UNT Dallas College of Law program. The appointment will be as an entry level tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach twelve credit hours per academic year beginning with the 2027-2028 academic year. The College of Law is interested in persons with all substantive legal interests, but particularly is interested in persons able to teach required first year courses and upper-level electives.
