Department Summary

The TRIO Programs department at the University of North Texas implements federal outreach and student service grant programs designed to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds navigate the academic pipeline. TRIO programs support students who identify as low-income, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities navigate the academic process toward higher education beginning in middle school.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing administrative support to a fast-paced department by way of office management, budget oversight and reconciliation, and payroll processes. The Senior Administrative Coordinator is responsible for all administrative functions of the office and provides support to 5 TRIO grants. This position reports to the Executive Director of Orientation and Transition Programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Job Duties

  • Manages clerical operations of the department, and supports a department with 16 full-time staff members, graduate assistants, and student employees -
  • Provides backup to the front desk staff when necessary by answering incoming phone calls, emails, and greeting visitors to the department 
  • Provides an accurate ledger of fiscal matters for multiple grant and discretionary accounts including accurate tracking of participant costs for all department spending 
  • Prepares budget reports monthly and as requested by the program directors or Executive Director 
  • Facilitates the processing of all goods and service contracts with purchasing and legal departments 
  • Processes purchase orders, IDT’s, and travel documents for department staff 
  • Responsible for departmental inventory of supplies and equipment and completes annual asset reports 
  • Serves as the department contact with IT as it relates to software needs and approval, equipment management, and overall IT compliance 
  • Oversees human resources processes and procedures (including payroll, new hire onboarding, and timekeeping) for the department
  • Analyzes and makes recommendations for office operational needs, including equipment, workflow and materials 
  • Provides interpretations of policies and procedures related to travel, employment, and purchasing for departmental staff 
  • Serves as the office liaison with financial aid to complete annual work study agreements and process departmental scholarships 
  • Supports all programs and initiatives originating out of the department

Occasional travel for conferences, workshops, outreach activities, and educational program delivery may be required.

Lab Animal Attendant

The Lab Animal Attendant provides daily animal care and husbandry in a regulated research environment, ensuring animal welfare, housing sanitation, and compliance with established standards through collaboration with veterinary, research, and animal care staff.

Senior Program Project Coordinator

Responsible for formulating and executing event strategy for the College consistent with its mission, vision, and operating entities. Directly supports the Colleges leadership team in developing area specific engagement, stewardship, and strategic event creation and management ensuring all outward-facing events are consistent with the brand, and developing and managing an event budget. This Joint Project Manager will serve as a liaison between UNT Denton and UNT Health to support and expand collaborative research, education, and innovation activities. The position will work with faculty, researchers, and institutional leadership at both campuses to identify shared interests, connect potential collaborators, and help move joint initiatives from initial ideas to implementation. Responsibilities will include coordinating the development of joint grant proposals, supporting collaborative research teams, and planning and executing joint research events, workshops, and other activities that encourage interaction across institutions. The Project Manager will also help identify funding opportunities, facilitate introductions among investigators with complementary expertise, and foster new and ongoing collaborations. The position will develop and maintain systems to track joint grants, partnerships, events, and other collaborative activities. This will include establishing program evaluation metrics, monitoring progress toward shared goals, preparing reports and updates for institutional leadership, and assessing the outcomes and impact of collaborative initiatives. The Project Manager will work closely with stakeholders across UNT Denton and UNT Health to ensure that collaborative opportunities are communicated, organized, and supported effectively, helping strengthen the institutions’ shared research and educational mission.
