Department Summary
The College of Pharmacy was established in 2011 and is part of the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth (UNTHSC). Other colleges at UNTHSC include the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Public Health, College of Health Professions, College of Biological and Translational Sciences, and the College of Nursing. Located in the Fort Worth cultural district, the University of North Texas Health Science Center is one of the fastest-growing academic health science centers in Texas. The University currently enrolls 2,700 graduate students who are pursuing degrees in medicine, bio-medical sciences, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, nutrition, lifestyle health, and public health. The University is well-positioned for rapid expansion, matching the growing population and economic vitality of the DFW Metroplex.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing executive, administrative, and analytical support to the Dean for the College of Pharmacy and beginning June 1, 2026 supports the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Professions. Coordinates activities on behalf of the Dean and acts as university wide liaison. Identifies issues or problems and research solutions within specific defined areas.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced MS Office skills.
- Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing at an exemplary level.
- Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
- Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
- Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
- Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.
- Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
Job Duties
- Responsible for contract management of varies types of agreements. My be required to prepare invoices, reports, memos, and financial statements.
- Provides administrative support, including drafting and managing correspondence and communications, scheduling appointments and managing the calendar with upcoming deadlines and agenda items that require action. Coordinating travel arrangements, compiling various reports, maintenance of records and other documentation.
- Coordinates the collection and analysis of data and the preparation of materials prior to meetings and conferences. Ensures the completion of required reports.
- Serves as a liaison and a point of contact, including providing support to departments reporting to the Dean and being a resource in the resolution of complex, highly sensitive, and confidential administrative matters. Provides leadership for all departmental functions to include planning, directing, and evaluating departmental operations.
- Coordinates work flow of office staff and may be responsible for the selection, hiring, and training of office personnel.
- Identifies and recommends improvements for administrative procedures and/or makes evaluative judgments in implementing changes as appropriate to administrative procedures.
