Since 1952, the University of North Texas Fraternity and Sorority Life community has been a viable and integral part of campus life. With four councils consisting of 37 fraternities and sororities, our Fraternity and Sorority Life community offers a unique and lifelong involvement experience. Membership in a fraternity or sorority can be one of the most significant experiences for a college student.
Position Overview
Provides support to student groups within Fraternity and Sorority Life and acts as an advisor and advocate for fraternity/sorority members. The coordinator assists the FSL unit in facilitating event planning, leadership, member development, and risk management, among other topics. The position collaborates with university departments in providing resources to the fraternity and sorority community.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years' of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Ability to communicate and work with a large student population. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Higher Education, education, student support or related field.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Advise one or more assigned FSL student governing council including the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan- Hellenic Council (NPHC) or Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC).
- Provide coaching for and attend and facilitate meetings with fraternity and sorority chapter leaders as assigned.
- Assist with the planning, coordinating, and implementation of assigned FSL student governing council related events.
- Actively participate in the Event Safety Committee through Student Activities for events related to the FSL community.
- Plan and facilitate workshops and retreats for fraternity and sorority chapters in areas including event planning, leadership, member development, and risk management/reduction, among other topics.
- Ensure accuracy of information on rosters and contact sheets for chapters under their advisement.
- Monitor financial transactions for assigned FSL student governing councils in collaboration with the unit’s Administrative Assistant.
- Participate in departmental programs and projects designed to support the mission and goals of the university, division, and department.
- Attend, supervise, and advise students at local, regional, and national conferences. Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.
- Other duties as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, occasional time outside of normal business hours may be required
