Department Summary

The Center for Leadership Development fosters belonging, leadership, and personal growth by connecting students to meaningful communities and experiences through Fraternity and Sorority Life and leadership programs. We empower students to discover their strengths, lead with purpose, and make a lasting impact on campus and beyond.

Position Overview

Provides support to student groups within Fraternity and Sorority Life and acts as an advisor and advocate for fraternity/sorority members. The coordinator assists the FSL unit in facilitating event planning, leadership, member development, and risk management, among other topics. The position collaborates with university departments in providing resources to the fraternity and sorority community.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
• Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
• Experience in networking across departments and programs.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. • Ability to foster relationships with students, alumni, advisors, and campus partners to ensure the success of programs and services
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
• Some experience in customer service is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Membership in a local/national/international fraternity/sorority.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties

Advise one or more assigned FSL student governing council including the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan- Hellenic Council (NPHC) or Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC).
Provide coaching for and attend and facilitate meetings with fraternity and sorority chapter leaders as assigned. Assist with the planning, coordinating, and implementation of assigned FSL student governing council related events.
Actively participate in the Event Safety Committee through Student Activities for events related to the FSL community. Maintain appropriate liaison between FSL and division offices, plus related areas (UPD, SGA, RHA, Police, Union, etc.)
Plan and facilitate workshops and retreats for fraternity and sorority chapters in areas including event planning, leadership, member development, and risk management/reduction, among other topics.
Ensure accuracy of information on rosters and contact sheets for chapters under their advisement. Assist in developing chapter grade reports at the end of each long semester.
Monitor financial transactions for assigned FSL student governing councils in collaboration with the unit’s Administrative Assistant.
Monitor Sorority House door access system and creates weekly report. Meet regularly with Auxiliary Services and keeps Director informed regarding house needs.
Participate in departmental programs and projects designed to support the mission and goals of the university, division, and department. Attend, supervise, and advise students at local, regional, and national conferences. Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned. Assist with the supervision of FSL Interns (when applicable).

In addition to a PA Faculty role, the Director of Academic Education (DAE) collaborates closely with the Program Director, Curriculum Committee, Student Performance Committee, Communication Committee, and Accreditation Committee to oversee and maintain curricular coherence. The DAE secures adequate classroom and laboratory space and scheduling, ensures curricular alignment with ARC-PA accreditation standards and the overall mission of the program, and facilitates cross department communication while acting as a liaison between departments on campus to coordinate education and testing for PA Students. The DAE works with course directors and the Director of Clinical Education to design, implement, coordinate, schedule, and evaluate educational activities taking place in the didactic and clinical phase of the curriculum. The DAE is directly responsible for the scheduling of the semester orientation meetings, didactic courses, course sequencing, and evaluating student performance. The DAE provides oversight and direction to course directors on course content, methods used to deliver course content, instructional faculty, student assessment, and evaluation of student assessments. Major changes are coordinated between the DAE, PAS-CC, and the PD. The DAE is responsible for ensuring that didactic courses are evaluated by course directors at the end of each semester and tracks the effectiveness of changes made to those courses. This position may be assigned additional duties and may be required to participate in special projects, consistent with the responsibilities and objectives of the position and the needs of the department, college, and university.
