Department Summary
The Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library supports the education, research, patient care, and community service missions of the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) by meeting the information needs of faculty, students, staff, and the local health sciences community.
Position Overview
The Systems Librarian is responsible for the development, organization and provision of information technology support services to the staff and patrons of the Lewis Library. This position reports to the Library Director at Lewis Library UNTHSC.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in library or information science and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work collaboratively and building strategic relations with colleagues, coworkers, constituents, and volunteers.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree from an ALA accredited program. Three years experience in a similar or related position in a health sciences or academic library. Demonstrated success in IT project management. Demonstrated experience collaborating with IT professionals in an academic environment and/or participating in cross-functional teams. Experience with an integrated library system and other library applications. Knowledge of digital imaging systems, web publishing applications, and/or institutional repositories.

Job Duties:
- Coordinates and assists in purchasing and providing technical support for the library’s computers, printers, scanners, and other digital devices.
- Administrates and provides technical support for library information systems and applications in a Microsoft network environment, including: integrated library systems such as discovery layers and catalogs, print management systems, EZproxy authentication and electronic records management systems.
- Serves as the primary liaison for the library to campus information technology services department and other IT personnel, including outside vendors and other institutions and libraries.
- Provides research and development, testing, upgrades, implementation and support for library applications, such as the library website, interlibrary loan system, electronic resources management software, library systems, and miscellaneous systems that integrate using SIP2.
- Serves as the asset coordinator for the library which consists of performing yearly inventory, updating property database, and maintaining property custody receipts.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00pm
