Department Summary
The Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) is a unique residential program for high school-aged Texas students who are high achievers and interested in mathematics and science. While living on campus in McConnell Hall, students in this two-year program complete a rigorous academic curriculum of college coursework at the University of North Texas (UNT). Instruction is by university faculty. There are no high school courses taught, but students enjoy many of the activities of high school and the company of age mates who are intellectual peers.
Position Overview
The TAMS Recruitment and Marketing Specialist will be responsible for organization of TAMS recruitment events, initiating connections with communities in TEc and creating effective marketing material for recruitment. The position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills. The position will represent our colleges in online media and at departmental events. The position will help with admissions and support the Alumni effort when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field, or in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of market segmentation, principles of marketing, integrated marketing communications principles and branding. Ability to visually inspect copy material.
- Competency in MS Office and requisite publishing, graphic design and media tools.
- Ability to think creatively, organize tasks, work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to use Associated Press style.
- Strong communications skills.
- Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of event planning experience.

Job Duties:
- Assist with organization, setup and facilitation of recruitment events. Coordinate, in collaboration with recruiter, recruitment efforts and presentation opportunities. Represent TAMS on campus for recruitment efforts and events.
- Review and post marketing material for TAMS. Help Director of Admissions and Recruitment review and update departmental websites.
- Other duties as requested by Director of Admissions and Recruitment
- Assist with Admissions and Admission related events.
- Collaborate with recruiter and Director of Admissions and Recruitment on all elements of recruitment and marketing of the TAMS program. Responsible for ensuring marketing materials and promotional items are prepared for recruitment events and recruiter's travel.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, some evenings and weekends as needed
