Department Summary

Digital Strategy and Innovation collaborates with faculty, staff, and students across UNT's academic and administrative units to ensure a world-class, 21st century institution; redefining public higher education through cutting-edge experimentation where the science of learning is the fulcrum that enables us to be at the forefront of innovative, omnichannel, lifelong education for the North Texas community and learners across the globe.

Position Overview

The VP for Strategic Educational Alliances oversees the university's efforts to broaden access to transformative, technology-enabled learning experiences through strategic partnerships. The individual in this role manages cross-functional teams to develop and deliver high-quality learning programs that support students' educational and professional aspirations. Responsibilities include utilizing advanced technologies, such as AI-powered tools, to enhance learner experience and ensure success. Furthermore, this role concentrates on establishing strategic collaborations with industry and academic units to foster continuous learning and innovative partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience related to distance or technology-enabled education, with managerial experience over a relevant functional area, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to develop and execute long-term strategies that align with the evolving needs of the workforce and the institution’s mission.
• Deep understanding of the latest trends, tools, and platforms in educational technology, including learning management systems (LMS), online content creation, and virtual classroom environments.
• Strong decision-making abilities to evaluate options, anticipate outcomes, and make informed decisions that benefit the organization.
• Ability to foresee future trends in education and technology and prepare the organization to leverage these advancements.
• Ability to interpret and leverage data to improve program outcomes and implement evidence-based practices.
• Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate teams, ensure alignment with organizational goals, and foster a collaborative working environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate visions, strategies, and progress to a variety of stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining strategic partnerships with industry, academic units, and other educational institutions.
• Capability to swiftly adapt to changing educational environments, technologies, and student needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in related field

Job Duties:

  • Leads the university's initiatives to expand access to transformative, technology-enabled learning experiences across and beyond the university's campuses through strategic partnerships.
  • Manages cross-functional teams to support the development and delivery of highly effective, technology-enabled learning experiences and programs that engage and support learners in developing knowledge and skills that advance their educational and professional goals.
  • Leads university initiatives and strategic partnerships to leverage leading-edge technologies including AI-powered tools to enhance learner experiences, accelerate learning, and improve student success at scale.
  • Partners with faculty, academic units, and university initiatives to extend the reach and impact of university programs and initiatives through online programs and credential offerings, enhance instructional innovation, advance the science of learning, and increase students' academic and professional success.
  • Develops strategic partnerships with industry partners and academic units to promote continuous learning aligned with changing workforce needs through high-quality executive and professional education programs.
  • Fosters innovative collaborations with community colleges, universities, and other partners to expand access to transformative, technology-enabled learning experiences, accelerate learning, and increase student success.
