The College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism offers five bachelor of science degree programs (hospitality management, merchandising, home furnishings merchandising, digital retailing, and consumer experience management) and three master of science degree programs (merchandising, hospitality management, and international sustainable tourism). The mission of the College is to transform learning, research and engagement for a global experience economy. Industry-relevant coursework delivered by expert faculty employs a focus on creative thinking and globally oriented problem solving.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for advising student on degree/program requirements and course scheduling. Maintains and updates student status records, transcript evaluations, degree plan audits, and graduation applications. Responsible for taking a leadership role in training and mentoring other advisors, participating in outreach/recruitment activities, managing special projects and/or serving as a subject matter expert on specialized majors and determining how transfer credits apply toward degree requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising.

- Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently and lead project teams effectively.
- Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
Job Duties:
- Advise students individually and in group settings regarding degree requirements and University and College Policies. Make referrals to campus offices as necessary.
- Prepare and update degree audits: evaluating and applying transfer work in accordance with University and College policies.
- Prepare and present degree information at new student orientations, prospective student appointments, and other group activities.
- Contribute to the overall organizational health and performance of the College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism Advising Office through teamwork, knowledge sharing, professional development and professional relationship building.
- Process graduation applications and degree plans: as assigned to meet CMHT and University deadlines.

Monday - Friday; 8:00am to 5:00pm
