Position Overview
This position is responsible for a diverse and general range of tasks that help facilitate the production and delivery of printed materials in a print and bindery department. Tasks include pre-flighting files for digital press, proofing, image vectorization, basic graphic design and customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree and three years' of moderately responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and experience in Adobe software, to include InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat.
- Ability to conceptualize, plan, and organize multiple assignments effectively and be able to adapt to shifting responsibilities and priorities.
- A quick and enthusiastic mind for learning diverse workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Looking for a creative person with experience in commercial printing.
- Graphic Design degrees and/or commercial art experience preferred.
Job Duties:
- Understands division and department strategic goals and works to help meet those goals. Stays competitive through online training opportunities.
- Communicates with customers and peers clearly and professionally and suggests methods to accomplish desired results. Understands and carries out oral and written instructions.
- Effective communication and timely action, done independently and in partnership with CSRs and PDS members to ensure department success.
- Readies files for Prepress Production to include Importing and manipulating electronic graphic files in various formats and converting to appropriate digital or offset press formats. Post-production proofing to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Maintains equipment properly, performing scheduled preventative maintenance. Performs system and program updates and performs minor repairs to equipment when needed.
- Takes measures to keep projects on schedule with accuracy and effectiveness and maintains an accurate record of time and materials.
- Maintains institutional image and brand quality through consistent and accurate application of wordmarks, letter marks, seal, and other graphic identity marks and their specifications.
- Knowledge of university and departmental policies and procedures as related to job performance. Demonstrates a willingness to be a team player and maintains good relations with coworkers, customers and vendors.
- Demonstrates creative and technical expertise through Concept, Design, Typography and Proofing.
