Department Summary

The Department of Family and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is a multifaceted, interdisciplinary team of dedicated healthcare providers and researchers who are committed to providing excellence in clinical care, primary care education, and research. Through innovative curricular designs, early clinical experiences, and mentorship, the Department is focused on producing highly competent, caring, and compassionate Family Medicine/OMM physicians, helping reduce the shortage of primary care physicians in our Texas communities.

Position Overview:

The Department of Family and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Teaching and mentoring medical students.
- Supervising residents in our ACGME-approved Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (ONMM) program.
- Providing ambulatory patient care.
- Encouraged participation in research and academic scholarship with protected academic time.

Minimum Qualifications

MD/DO Degree required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Knowledge and experience in using various teaching methods to create an effective learning environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple responsibilities, including teaching, research, and clinical duties.

Job Duties:

  • Advising and mentoring residents and medical students.
  • Resident supervision within our ACGME approved Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (ONMM) Program.
  • Research and participation in scholarly activity.
  • Ambulatory Care.

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
