The UNT Dallas College of Law welcomes applications from law school admissions professionals who are interested in serving as our next Assistant Director of Admissions.
The UNT Dallas College of Law is an ABA Fully Approved public law school in downtown Dallas with a full-time day division and a part-time evening division. The College of Law’s goals are: (1) widening access to legal education for those who could be superb legal professionals but who cannot realistically access a legal education given factors including location, cost, and the current role of the LSAT in admission to and financing of law school; (2) providing an educational program focused on excellence in developing practice-related competencies, through a curriculum mapped to those competencies and using best instructional practices, including multiple formative and summative assessment throughout, engaged class design, and a spectrum of experiential education; (3) creating opportunity for our students by keeping tuition and debt low and producing graduates with high value and ability in multiple segments of the market for legal services; (4) becoming a national leader in advancing understanding of best legal education practices, of professional formation, and of the relationship between legal education and the evolving practice and business of law; (5) improving access to justice for underserved legal needs; and (6) serving as a valuable partner in civic engagement with the City of Dallas and the North Texas region.
Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Admissions serves as the primary point of contact for prospective students interested in the College of Law, as well developing and implementing innovative methods for national, state and local recruitment of applicants. The Assistant Director counsels undergraduate students, second career applicants, and prelaw advisors on admission to the College of Law. The Assistant Director responds to questions from prospective and current applicants concerning the general admissions process, the status of applications for admissions, and the program of legal education at the College of Law. The Assistant Director works with the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Scholarships to manage the full enrollment process, develop scholarship strategies and proposed scholarship awards. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Scholarships.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training. and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of University admissions standards, policies, and procedures, and special admissions procedures.Extensive knowledge of University curriculum and academic policies and procedures, and of the training and qualifications needed to perform University academic work satisfactorily.Strong problemsolving skills.Strong critical thinking skills.Excellent written and oral communications skills.Excellent presentation skills and counseling skills.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to supervise, train, and plan work of subordinates.Ability to plan, conceptualize, and make sound business decisions.Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.Ability to research, gather data, compiled information, and accurately prepare reports.Ability to plan, conceptualize, and make sound business decisions.Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.Skill in use of a personal computer, Microsoft office and/or other software.
Preferred Qualifications
J.D. (Juris Doctor) degree and two years of supervisory level admissions, student affairs, or related experience. Experience with ACES, Unite or comparable database management system.

Job Duties:
- Promote and support the University's vision, mission, and philosophies.
- Recruits prospective students and applicants by developing and implementing internal and external recruitment strategies.
- Responds to inquiries or requests from prospects.
- Maintains computerized records of prospects and contact persons and produces timely reports using the information in the data base.
- Advises students and families about decisions, finances and the application process.
- Oversees admissions processes and documentation.
- Schedules campus tours and oversees the training of tour guides.
- Evaluates admissions activities, enrollment and complaints to adjust strategies.
- Under minimal supervision, assumes a variety of administrative functions in the processing, tracking and data entry of applicant files and the supporting materials including test scores and data cleaning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

8:30am - 5:30pm and as needed based academic and recruiting schedule
