Position Overview
The Assistant Manager, Custodial Services plays a crucial role in overseeing the day to day operations of the night shift custodial services within Facilities. Working closely with the Manager, Custodial Services, this role ensures the cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance of facilities are upheld to high standards. The Assistant Custodial Manager supports the implementation of policies, procedures, and schedules to effectively manage night shift custodial staff and resources.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and 7 years' of experience including 3 years at the supervisory level or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of custodial equipment and cleaning techniques.
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and stakeholders.
- Strong computer skills. including familiarity with MS Office or similar software.
- Strong leadership and teambuilding skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- 5 years supervisory experience.
- Associates Degree
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Hiring and Onboarding. Oversee the recruitment, selection, and hiring process for night shift custodial staff. Coordinate the onboarding and training of new custodial employees, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
- Inventory Management. Manage custodial supplies and equipment inventory, including ordering, receiving, organizing, and maintaining stock levels. Develop and implement efficient inventory control procedures to reduce waste and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Supervision: Act as the supervisor in the absence of the Manager, Custodial Services, providing leadership and guidance to the custodial team. Assist in resolving any operational issues, conflicts, or emergencies as they arise.
- Documentation and Compliance: Generate and distribute department documents, such as work schedules, reports, and safety guidelines. Hold regular departmental meetings to ensure that staff is informed about compliance and departmental procedures.
- Quality Control and Compliance: Monitor the custodial services department to ensure they meet the established quality standards and comply with health and safety regulations. Implement and enforce best practices to optimize custodial operations and improve service quality.
- Resource Allocation: Allocate resources efficiently, including personnel, supplies, and equipment, to meet the cleaning and maintenance needs of the campus. Develop and maintain schedules for custodial staff to ensure adequate coverage and responsiveness.
- Budget Management: Assist in budget planning and management, tracking expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Provide input and recommendations for budget adjustments and resource allocation.
Work Schedule:
3:00 PM-11:30 AM M- F Overtime and some nights/weekends/holidays required as needed. This is an essential worker position, and irregular work hours may also be required during extreme weather conditions.
