Department Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides engineering programs that combine fundamentals of mechanical engineering with a broad specialization on subjects related to energy production, management, and distribution. Also offered are engineering technology programs that are based on applications of technology to solve engineering problems. Our department is the second largest in the College of Engineering.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Overview
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is currently looking to hire a faculty member at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor / Clinical Associate Professor (non-tenure-track position). Preference is for a Fall 2025 hire, however consideration may be extended to Spring 2026. We are looking for a qualified candidate to help manage senior capstone design in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology/Construction Engineering Technology. The candidate could potentially teach graduate-level Engineering Management courses or undergraduate-level construction management courses based on their qualifications and experience. This position will primarily be teaching-focused, and it has an assigned workload of 80% teaching and 20% service in the department.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering / Engineering Management / Construction Engineering, or in a related field.
To be considered for the rank of Clinical Associate Professor, the candidate should have 5 years in the rank of assistant clinical professor or have equivalent prior relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with industrial experience and engineering project management experience.
