The program offers a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management in Denton and Frisco, a Bachelor of Science in Event Design and Experience Management in Denton and Frisco, a Master of Science in Hospitality Management, a Master of Science in International Sustainable Tourism.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional faculty member to join our team in shaping the next generation of food and beverage professionals and hospitality leaders. This 9 month, full-time position plays a pivotal role in delivering high-impact instruction in front-of-the-house operations through our student-operated restaurant, the Club at Gateway, beginning Fall 2025 and beyond.
This position offers a unique opportunity to impart your extensive knowledge, passion, and industry experience of restaurant operations to enthusiastic students, preparing them for successful careers in the hospitality industry. The faculty is responsible for overseeing the student learning in front of the house operations of Club at Gateway, our student-operated restaurant.
The new hire will implement innovative teaching methods to ensure that students understand standards of excellence in food service, cost analysis, new technologies, and management practices. Candidates will need to be prepared to address their teaching philosophy in terms of communication, as it focuses on student interaction.
The faculty is responsible for course instruction primarily HGMT 3251 Restaurant Operations, and other courses as assigned for a 4/4 workload. The faculty may be required to travel off campus to monitor students and/or teach classes at lab sites in Frisco, TX.
The faculty is responsible for activities which consist of collaboration with other department and college faculty and staff especially in a coordinated effort with the faculty chef who manages back of the house courses.
The faculty will manage scheduling, cost controls, safe food handling, special events, ticket sales, money handling, and profit loss statements. The faculty will provide course instruction and monitor teaching/learning effectiveness. This includes preparation of course materials, assignments, syllabi, attendance records, grading, curricula revisions, course materials, and textbook selection and supplies.
Faculty is expected to participate in college and campus events and serve on academic or administrative committees.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in culinary, hospitality, food science or other related field with substantial years of industry experience.
