Department Summary
The University of North Texas, College of Music, is seeking to hire a Communications Specialist to join our team. This position will be responsible for creating and disseminating our digital concert programs and market events using social media and other digital platforms. This position will also regularly work with both internal and external constituents with a focus on providing the best level of customer service.

The University of North Texas, College of Music, is seeking to hire a Communications Specialist to join our team. This position will be responsible for creating and disseminating our digital concert programs and market events using social media and other digital platforms. This position will also regularly work with both internal and external constituents with a focus on providing the best level of customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years' of experience in writing and/or editing publications; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to conceptualize, write and edit content for university audiences.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, conduct multiple tasks and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to visually inspect print and digital copy.
- Knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation and Associated Press and Chicago Manual styles.
- Knowledge of writing guidelines for various media. Ability to create unique copy for each format (print, online, broadcast).
- Understanding of institutional strategy (or ability to quickly assimilate) and ability to integrate strategy into modes of communication.
- Knowledge, skills and abilities for web-based positions include content management, editing software, CSS, HTML, cross-browser testing and manipulation of page display for mobile devices.
- Ability to adhere to ADA compliance.
- Ability to produce web site prototypes.
- Ability to organize information from numerous sources into cohesive and effective navigation.
- Ability to check web sites for accuracy and functionality before sites are published.
- Ability to translate documents, requirements, wireframes into professionally designed, functional web properties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in music or experience with the musical genres represented in the College’s curriculum;
- Proficient in text editing and music historical research
- Experience using software for optimization and automation of workflows and business processes
- Experience managing website content
- Experience creating digital marketing assets to drive attendance at events.

Job Duties:
Concert Program Production
- Representative tasks include managing the submission process for program information and ensuring all completed programs are publicly posted on appropriate digital platforms for easy audience access.
Event Marketing Representative
- tasks include creating, coordinating, and distributing content in support of events for digital platforms such as websites, digital newsletters and social media.
Website Content Management
- Representative tasks include working with faculty, staff, students and external vendors to maintain, update, troubleshoot, and provide general assistance for College of Music websites while adhering to College of Music and University Brand Strategy and Communications guidelines and procedures.
Other Duties
- Representative tasks include participating in special projects and events as requested and working to ensure effective communication and collegial, professional relations with all coworkers and clients.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM
