Department Summary

Classroom Technologies (formerly DSI Tech) supports UNT's Classrooms as well as distance education across the UNT Enterprise (Fort Worth, Dallas and System) with an expertise in AV, IT and Soft Codecs.

Position Overview

This position provides high level technical support for Faculty, Staff, Students, and Guests of UNT. Duties include maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing A/V systems, digital signage systems, student/lab computers; responding to user requests for technology assistance, training, and support; providing technology support for campus events; assisting with other departmental services such as checking out equipment, installing software, responding to tickets, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and three years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environment. Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware. Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applicationsoriented information.

Preferred Qualifications

Detailed knowledge of A/V fundamentals, hardware, and systemsA/V industry or manufacturer certifications such as AVIXA CTS, Extron Control Professional, QSC QSys Level 1, Biamp, Crestron, etc. Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems

Job Duties

Awareness of current audio/video and IT standards as it relates to the system standards implemented by the department.
Awareness of DSI Techs scope of services: learning spaces technology, cloud conferencing and how to verify when an incident or project is in scope of our department and when to escalate questions accordingly.
Awareness of common UNT procedures such as: contacting Work Control, contacting UNT Police Department, contacting federated IT groups, basic understanding of funding types and appropriate use, etc.
Functional awareness of the departments digital tools including, but not limited to: CSS Work Order program, CSS Room Monitor program, Microsoft Office Solutions, IT Incident reporting tools, Project Management tools
Foster an environment of safety: Create an environment of safety first. Monitor and address any deficiencies immediately to the benefit of student employees life/safety.

Coordinate and supervises the daily activities of the student employee team including but not limited to: assigning work orders, setting task priorities, troubleshooting assistance, installation assistance.
Customer service for our different types of technologies we support (in support of the various end users we support).
Ensure the standards of quality and functionality are met for learning space systems DSI Tech is responsible for.
Consumables and Parts Management (Secondary for parts requests. Secondary on updating orders). Working with the Department Head and teammates to submit requests for commonly used items (consumables and common tools). Updating order status and receiving orders as needed.

Administrative Specialist

The Computer Science Engineering Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Administrative Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to supporting enrollment of students through Override Enrollment requests, PERC reports, and generating permission codes for course enrollment, when necessary. This position serves as a backup for scheduling and Curriculog, and is trained to utilize Courseleaf (creating course schedules), Ad Astra (reserving rooms and scheduling), Curriculog (catalog and pre-requisite changes), and to create new sections of unorganized courses. This position also handles CPT (Curricular Practical Training) Program from the department's side, and is responsible for acting as the department's point of contact for the CPT program, processing CPT forms, and assisting with internship enrollment. This position also handles certificate evaluation and mailing by coordinating with faculty regarding special certificates and processing the awards until mailing them to the students.
