Position Overview
The Center for Logistics and Supply Chain Management is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to provide mentorship and support research in database management, data analysis and data visualization through the development of dashboards. The position entails variable hours based on needs identified up to 20 hours. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated understanding of data visualization principles, dashboard design best practices, and proficiency in relevant software tools. Responsibilities include all of the following.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Experience:
- Proven experience in data visualization and dashboard creation.
- Proven experience with data analysis and interpretation.
- Experience mentoring or teaching others is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in data visualization and dashboard tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
- Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with web-based data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, Plotly).
- Knowledge of database management systems.
- Experience with statistical analysis.
